Davenport Assumption Knight standout and current Iowa State Cyclone, Julien Broderson will compete at 86kg at the Senior World Team Trials this weekend. Julien will represent the Cyclone Regional Training Center.
Julien qualified for this weekend’s World Team Trials with his impressive 7th place finish at the US Open in Las Vegas.
The World Team Trials Challenge Tournament kicks off Saturday, May 21 at 10am CST at Coralville’s beautiful Xtream Arena. The winners of this weekend’s Challenge Tournament will qualify for Final X, which is the final step in making the United States World Team.
It will also be exciting to watch Davenport North alumni and 2 time Iowa Girls State Champion, Tateum Park wrestle in the World Team Trials. Tateum is wrestling in the Women’s Freestyle, 57kg division, representing Twin Cities RTC.
Another wrestler with Quad Cities ties who will be competing at 61kg is Daniel DeShazer, of Goper Wrestling Club, is the brother of Assumption Assistant Wrestling Coach, Tristen DeShazer.
Also, at 86kg, UNI National Champion, Drew Foster will be representing Panther Wrestling Club. Drew is from Mediapolis High School, which isn’t too far down the road from the Quad Cities.
